I offer hands-on training on using Large Language Models for biomedical research, capacity building, and community health, with a special focus on supporting researchers in resource-limited settings. Training is delivered mainly as three-month cohort programs for university departments, research institutes, community organizations, and corporate teams, with shorter guest lecture series available as an introduction.

LLM Training for Biomedical Researchers and Organizations

Current and Recent Engagements (2025 & 2026)

Course Topics

  • Ethical considerations and responsible use
  • Context engineering (prompt engineering) for scientific and professional tasks
  • Building reproducible workflows with APIs and Jupyter Notebooks
  • Audio transcription and meeting documentation
  • Systematic error analysis and evaluation of agentic workflows
  • Literature synthesis and document processing with citations
  • Data exploration, transformation, and visualization
  • Automating information retrieval and building agent skills

Format Options

  • Three-month cohort programs (about 10–12 weeks) with live sessions and virtual office hours
  • Optional train-the-trainer, developing local facilitators so capacity stays in the institution
  • Guest lectures and seminars (1–3 sessions) as an introduction to the material, rather than a substitute for the full course
  • Hands-on exercises using real tasks from your own work
  • No programming experience required
  • Reduced-cost access for qualifying individuals and institutions

Availability

I am available for new training engagements starting October 2026. Get in touch to discuss how a course could work for your team.

What Participants Say

Participants in the February–April 2026 cohort at the Kintampo Health Research Centre, Ghana

Taking the Large Language Models course has been a transformative experience. The hands-on practical projects and in-depth lectures by Nico Marr helped me now understand the complexities of large language models and their real-world applications. I now feel confident in implementing and adjusting LLMs for various tasks in the research arena.

Fredrick Bayor

Using LLM to do systematic reviews is time saving. I am able to extract relevant info from articles within minutes.

Richard Tetteh

…My interest in coding has heightened through this LLM training. I am considering taking a beginner course in programming languages like Python and JavaScript.

Samuel Adusi Poku

I am confident in engineering prompts to get as close to the output I want. To reproduce the operations and outputs for larger data sets, exposure to notebooks has helped me get almost reproducible output for most of the work where I need the aid of an LLM.

Dennis Adu-Gyasi

Lessons were well delivered, and the support sessions gave more clarity and appreciation for the course.

I also co-founded Theme Bio, a U.S. 501(c)(3) organization supporting biomedical researchers and communities in resource-limited settings. Institutions able to contract with a U.S. public charity may prefer to contact Theme Bio directly.
